Mazda's all-new people-carrier integrates the brand´s family face that not only makes it stronger-looking and sporty, but also improves aerodynamics and engine-cooling performance. The five-point grille is much larger, the lower bumper much more sculptured, and the new headlamps more pointed. Below these are new pointed fog lamp openings embedded deeply in the bumper. This creates a thick lower lip that rises along the outer edge of the fascia and into the fender. The fender picks-up the movement created by the fog lamp edge, carries it over the wheel well to meet a wave-like Nagare-flow character line that moves across the side of the vehicle and into the rear panel just below the door-slide rail.

This unique side panel articulation is based on patterns formed when wind blows on water. It integrates the front side bumper area with the sides and backs of the vehicle so that, when combined with the character line at the lower door area, there is a sense of motion even when the vehicle is standing still. The "hidden" D-pillar - formed by covering it with glass - and horizontal rear lamps enhance the integrated flow effect front-to-back, and make the all-new Mazda 5 exterior both unique to the C-MAV segment and unmistakably a Mazda.

Wheels and Exterior Colours

New Nagare-flow aluminium/alloy wheel designs (16 and 17-inch) are introduced with twisted spokes, which give them a sporty three-dimensionality that contributes to the flow patterns of the Mazda 5 silhouette.

Also available is a 15-inch steel wheel with a full wheel cover. There are 8 exterior colours for customers to choose from, including an all-new colour Clear Water Blue.

This creative background was advantageous in efforts to achieve maximum dynamic performance within the new Mazda 2's compact body. In other words, the Mazda 2 possesses the essence of Mazda's spirit of compact, sporty dynamic performance - "Zoom-Zoom Concentrated."

Mazda 6 Wagon

The new Mazda 6 facelift is roomy and functional. It has a host of small storage compartments and a large and flexible floor console between the front seats. To this it adds a new storage compartment near the driver's seat. The ashtray has been replaced by a box large enough for small items such as cards and the keyless entry and start system's controller. Additionally, a newly-fitted sunglasses holder is placed just behind the rear-view mirror. Karakuri rear seat functionality is still onboard that automatically folds the 60/40 rear seats down by pulling on a latch in the boot side trim panel (Hatchback and Wagon), and there is a Karakuri tonneau cover that automatically moves up and down with the wagon liftgate .

Inspired by the beauty of flowing elements in nature—nagare means “flow” in Japanese—the design language is most evident along the sides of the 5, where swooping creases between the beltline and rockers appear to be sculpted by the wind, lending a sense of motion. These particular elements can be found in all the previous concept vehicles and, according to Mazda, help the 5 achieve improved aerodynamic efficiency with less drag and more optimal lift characteristics. The result definitely is striking—think BMW’s flame surfacing on magic mushrooms. A more-sculpted rear fascia with revised taillights rounds out the major tweaks to the body.

We have yet to learn the extent of the interior changes, but the layout will remain a spacious and flexible place for six, complete with dual sliding doors for easy entry and exit. Improved materials and revised equipment are expected in order to keep the 5 on par with the updated-for-2010 CX-7 and CX-9.
